Why Chiropractic?

 According to a 2010 national survey, chiropractors treat about 40% of all chronic pain patients. In comparison, traditional primary care physicians treat about 52% of such patients, with acupuncturists treating 7%, and pain specialists about 2%.
An earlier study found that in the previous 12 months more people with back or neck pain consulted a complementary therapist (54%) than a conventional provider (37%).


 Chiropractic was the most- frequently used complementary therapy (20%). 
Notably, chiropractors were rated as “very helpful” for back or neck pain by 61% of users, while only 27% of people who used a conventional provider rated their treatment as “very helpful.”
Chiropractors are thus frequently in a position to help educate their patients about the relative risks and benefits of opioid analgesics—risks and benefits explored thoroughly in this monograph. By learning more about the principles and practices of traditional pain management, chiropractors may be the best option.
